Hey guys!
Well, what can I say - I am just BUZZING after last week! It was by far, for me personally, the best week of my life last week! I got to promote my books in ways that I hadn't been able to previously!
On Tuesday last week, I went back to my old school, the Abbey School in Faversham, to attend a book club event there about Trapped on Draconica. I had previously donated and sold copies of my book to the library of the school and it turns out that it's one of the most borrowed books in the library. Some had even written reviews about it! So on Tuesday I went to do a little talk with the kids there. I was a little worried doing this talk - but all the kids were fantastic! They pretty much listened to my every word and all were really enthusiastic about my book! They grilled me with all manner of (excellent) questions about my book, having already read it! I even had the chance to sell a few more copies and sign them. One pupil there is even trying to be a writer herself and asked me for advice. I got to read some of her work - it was really good as well. I can honestly say she will go far with her writing and I really hope that she does.
Pictures of the event were taken and I'll put them up when they're ready.
On Saturday and Sunday I returned to London Anime Con. I had previously gone there on Feb of this year and decided to do it again. This time I had ALL of my books with me (as I only had Trapped on Draconica on paperback before). What can I say? It was an amazing event - and I sold a record number of books! I even broke my previous record of a books sold for the whole weekend last time - IN ONE DAY! So you can image how happy I was!
I also got to meet a lot of other great exhibitors that day - a couple of which I'd like to give a shout out to.
Mark Green - Author of Grey Faction and The Scalpel Murder. Check out his work at www.nexusdarkworld.com
Huy Truong - an artist with such an extensive portfoilio of work I don't even know where to begin! Last time I brought a copy of the manga he was working on Pwanda. He is an amazing artist and top guy! I even had my portrait done by him! You can check out his work at huy-truong.deviantart.com
And just for my own self indulgence, here was my own table and my sexy new banner that I had with me.
Even though by the end of the weekend I was shattered (carrying a heavy suitcase full of books to London and back again TWICE isn't easy. But it was worth it for such a great weekend! Thanks for having me London Anime Con! Oh, and again a big thanks to my Mum for helping me on the second day. Much appreciated!
Hopefully now I intend to look at some book fairs and the like to spread the word of Draconica. If anyone reading this organises anything like this, or knows who I can speak to (I am based in UK so can't really do abroad ones at the moment), then please get in touch with me. You can do so at any of the links below.
Next up on my list is Anime Attacks in Newcastle! Looking forward to that already!
Thanks for reading guys!
