A ma-husive thank you

Well, on the whole it's been a pretty damn good week! I'm gonna use this opportunity to talk a little bit about my recent sponsume campaign - but first I'd like to say a few words about Mrs Sue Grafton.

Some of you may remember my post last Sunday about the recent interview with Mrs Sue Grafton, and her rather insensitive comments she made about self-published and indie authors. Well, turns out that I wasn't the only one that took issue to this as, during the week, I've read numerous other posts on blogs by other authors/publishers who were quick to shoot down Mrs Grafton's argument in flames. It got so intense that Mrs Grafton later issued an "apology" - although I think it was one of the most insincere apologies I've ever read since the Governments apology for creating a panic in fuel buying. But that doesn't bother me - the point is that we made our point and showed Mrs Grafton for what she really is, and I think it will take a LONG time before she recovers from this one.

I may not have been the first to post about her (and I certainly wasn't the last), but I actually felt elated to be part of this "revolution", for lack of a better term. It was so reassuring to see so many writers come together for a common cause, standing up for what they believed it. We raged against the machine and the internet took note. It made me proud to be a self-published author - so to all the indie/self-published authors out there, give yourselves a pat on the back. Also, to the published authors out there that also supported us, thank you for proving that not everyone is as ignorant as Mrs Grafton.

Anyway, onto my next point - recently my Sponsume campaign for the Legacy of the Dragonkin finished and, thanks to your support, we managed to raise around £300 towards the project (after fees). I am astounded by the support we got for this - to be honest, I never thought I would get ANY sponsorship for it, but was blown away by the support. Considering that my first book is still to really break through the writing world, this was a humbling feeling.

Already, I'm putting the money to good use. We have started work on the front cover AND a possible animated trailer for it in the following months. No sitting on my backside here!

So therefore, my thanks to everyone who supported, sponsored, retweeted, blogged, or did everything and anything to get the name of this campaign out. It is appreciated. Your gifts will all be sent out sometime early next year - but to show my appreciation, I will have a special something planned in the next few days for you all.

Until then, have a great weekend folks!

Legacy of the Dragonkin Campaign enters it's closing days

Just to let you guys know that my Sponsume campaign for Legacy of the Dragonkin is nearing the end of it's run this week. It's been fun to do and I had a blast - but there is STILL time to get your sponsorship in for those who haven't done so already.

Even if we don't hit our target, we STILL get to keep the money that we make from this (unlike most crowdfunding sites whereby you only get your money if you hit your target). The downside is that I will be charged a fee if I don't hit my target - therefore the more sponsorship I can get, the less that fee will matter. I can assure you that EVER penny I make from this will go towards my project and look to make it the best it can possibly be.

For those who have already backed this project, you have my enternal gratitude. For those who are looking to back it, please do so asap. The project ends at midnight on the 19th August - so the LATEST you should try and donate is the 18th August to avoid disappointment.

Even if you do not feel like sponsoring, it would REALLY be a help if you could share this post on your Facebook, Twitter, blog, etc as I am really going for a final push this week for this campaign. Like I say, the more we can get towards it, the better I can fund the necessary costs to make this book a success. Me and the artist are also going to be putting together an animated video to advertise this book as well, so your costs will go towards that as well.

The link to the campaign is below:

Not only that, but for teaser information on some of the story and characters in Legacy of the Dragonkin, go to:

Again, thank you so much for all your support and if you could just let people know about this project, then I would appreciate it. If you have any questions, please contact me on any of the ways below.

Thanks!

20 Days to go and we need your support!

Hey guys. This is just an update about my Sponsume campaign that I have running for Legacy of the Dragonkin. So far I have managed to raise £170 of my overall target - but we're not quite there yet. I want to say a huge thanks to those who have sponsored me so far and to those who have shared my link or retweeted it, etc, but with just 20 days to go, I need a bit more help if I am going to reach my target.

To remind you of the project that I have current going, here is the video and link to the Sponsume page.

It would be a HUGE help if you guys could help me get the word out about this campaign so that we can raise the funds for it. Remember, all funds made from this will go towards the artwork and printing costs of the book, as well as other publicity materials. Not only that, but there are lots of presents available for you if you do it!

What I'd love would be if you guys could share this blog, retweet it, or just give it a little mention on your FB, blog, etc, just to spread the word about it a little more. If you'd like to donate money towards it that would be great. Every little helps. And just remember, even though the money is mentioned in British Pounds, you can donate in any currency as far as I'm aware. I am trying to push this as much as possible in the hope that I can make Legacy of the Dragonkin as good a novel as possible.

Once again a huge thanks to those who have supported this so far - let's see if we can hit our target!

Thanks a lot and have a great week!

Regards

A huge thanks...

Wow! What a weekend! A trip up to the lovely North of England (Gatehead) with copies of Trapped on Draconica to attend Anime Attacks. I sold a few copies up there AND I got to do a little talk about it as well. It was nice to be welcomed by such wonderful people. I actually got asked a LOT of questions as to whether I play Skyrim - seems to be the most popular game at the mo!

This was one of those conventions I did by myself again and the travelling was hard work (carrying a suitcase full of books is HEAVY! No one can say I don't sweat for my art! lol), but it was worth it! The other dealers were nice people as well (I even met one who taught one of the girls from Little Mix which was quite cool - although I think only X-Factor devotes will know who they are).

What I thought was kinda cool is that they put me next to the science fiction/fantasy section in the library. Rather appropriate!

A huge thanks to Andy and the rest of the guys at Anime Attacks for having me. It was a fun weekend and great to know that my work is getting out there. Next stop - the world!

Normal service will resume on my blog this week. But you may want to check back here on Wednesday. Why? Well because we'll be having a very welcome return by one of my favourite authors. Those who have read my blog know who I'm talking about!

Also, a huge thanks to those who have backed the Legacy of the Dragonkin campaign so far - but we need more sponsors. With 34 days to go we need all the support we can get, so so pop over and help however you can. Link is below.

Laters guys!

Smashwords and Sponsume Updates

A quick couple of updates today as I'm currently preparing for a book club event that I'll be attending tomorrow (at my old school funnily enough).

Those who were disappointed that Trapped on Draconica and The Wandering Valkyr were no longer on Smashwords will be pleased to know that they have now available from that website again. Previous I had taken them down due to my involvement with KDP Select - but I have decided not to renew my time with that and therefore have now resubmitted them to Smashwords. You can buy them at the links below.

The Wandering Valkyr

Also, I've included the first sample chapter of Legacy of the Dragonkin on my Sponsume campaign page - so that people can get an idea of what their sponsorships will bring. You can check out the link to the sample chapter here and find it just underneath the description of the project:

That's all for now. Don't forget to spread the word to all your friends about this project. The more help I can get for it the better!

Take care guys. I'll let you know how the book club event went sometime during the week!
